Spanish SPS Neptuno

The SPS NEPTUNO arrives in Taranto naval base for Sorbet Royal 2005. She was commissioned into the Spanish Navy in 1998 and dsiplaces 1900Tns.
The SPS NEPTUNO has a large range of submarine rescue equipment onboard. Her main role is diving support with medical support during escape serials.
The Remotely Operated Vehicle (ROV) of the SPS NEPTUNO is just one of the extremely versatile peices of equipment to be used during Sorbet Royal 2005. It is not always possible for escape serials to be performed on an operational submarine. Therefore instead a target is used which models the hull of a distressed submarine.

When a surface supplied air or mixed gas dive takes place the divers are lowered into the water and down to the distressed submarine from the surface.
Rigged above on the SPS NEPTUNO is the cradle used to lower divers down to the distressed submarine.
