Exercise Area of Operation

For the conduct of the exercise, the following areas will be established:

  1. 5 exercise areas for dived and bottom operations (SR areas).
    • SR areas are 5 x 3 nm. They will be surveyed for bottom operations in 2004 and 2005. Bottoming will be allowed in “spot points”, circles radius 1000 yds centered as specified in paragraph b.
  2. 5 “Waiting” areas for submarines (W areas). Submarines will be able to spend “out of exercise” periods in these areas. Dived operations will be permitted.
  3. 5 Transit areas (T areas) between the SR and W areas. Dived transit is allowed through these areas
  4. A 1 mile wide transit corridor has been established between SR1 and SR2 to permit the transit of fishing boats
